He has a Ph.D. in philosophy and an M.A. + in English Literature.

Professor Michael Boylan has taught philosophy at Marymount University for more than thirty years. His teaching and research interests include ethics, social and political philosophy, the history of philosophy, philosophy of science, philosophy and literature, and ancient biomedicine. He has lectured widely on ethics, law, and political philosophy in 15 countries on 5 continents. He is the author of 37 books and 140 articles.  Among his books are 8 novels, two books of poetry, and a children’s book.

Professor Michael Boylan is the author of 8 monographs in philosophy ; 3 co-authored treatises in philosophy; 12 edited books in philosphy; 12 philosophical novels; two books of poetry; and two professionalyl produced plays (one of which won an award).

He has been invited as speaker and keynote presenter at major universities in 15 countries on 5 continents at some of the most prestigious universities in the world. He has served on national committees for the government and has been a fellow at both The Center for American Progress and The Brookings Institution.
