Biography
Dr. Lee received her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Sciences from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1997, her MPT from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1999, and her transitional DPT from Shenandoah University in 2019.

Dr. Lee has been a Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) through the American Board of Wound Management since 2004 and was named a Wound Management Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in the inaugural group in 2022. Dr. Lee’s clinical wound management experience has been in acute care, burn trauma, home health, outpatient and long-term care settings. She has practiced in acute care for 25 years. Currently, her acute care practice is at Inova Loudoun Hospital, and she consults in wound management for LivinRite Home Health.

Dr. Lee has served as an item writer for the Wound Management Clinical Specialist Exam over the past 3 years and is currently on 2 committees to update the 2025 National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel Clinical Practice Guidelines.

Biography
Dr. Jade Bender-Burnett is an Assistant Professor at Marymount University in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, in the School of Health Sciences and the College of Health and Education, located in Arlington, VA. She received her Bachelor of Science in physical therapy and Master of Science in physical therapy from the University of Evansville, Evansville, IN. She received a Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy and an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Organizational Innovation from Marymount University, Arlington, VA.

Dr. Bender-Burnett has practiced as a physical therapist for over 19 years and has been in physical therapy education for twelve of those years. As a faculty member, her primary teaching responsibilities have included physical therapy curriculum covering pathophysiology, neuroscience, neurological rehabilitation, acute care management, management, leadership, professional development, and expert practice.

Dr. Bender-Burnett is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy and maintains a private clinical practice, supporting individuals living with neurologic conditions. She has clinical experience in working with individuals who have sustained neurological injuries across multiple settings, including acute care, acute rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, and home health. Jade is a career-long American Physical Therapy Association member and serves as a volunteer for the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. She has also served as an elected Virginia delegate to the House of Delegates of the American Physical Therapy Association.

Research Interests

Dr. Bender-Burnett holds professional responsibilities as a clinician and an educator and as such, her research interests encompass both educational and clinical domains. In the educational sphere, her primary focus is on understanding and enhancing the lived experiences of graduate health professions students, with particular emphasis on Student Physical Therapists. In the clinical domain, her research is centered on improving the lived experiences of members of her community and society through a variety of identification and preventative measures.
