Scholarships, Guaranteed Admission Hallmarks of Marymount University Agreement with Saint John’s Catholic Prep

Marymount University and Saint John’s Catholic Preparatory High School in Frederick County, Maryland, have signed an agreement that guarantees Saint John’s graduates admission to MU, along with four-year renewable scholarships.

The first Catholic university in Virginia, Marymount is the commonwealth’s only college or university to have a guaranteed admission agreement with Saint John’s Catholic Prep. Located just six miles from Washington, D.C., Marymount features an average class size of 16 and a culture of engagement that fosters intellectual curiosity, service to others and a global perspective.
“Marymount is proud to expand opportunities for Saint John’s Catholic Prep students to continue their faith-based education at the university level,” said Fran Reed, Marymount’s associate vice president for enrollment management. “The educational preparation at Saint John’s will provide a strong foundation for those who find their academic home in Arlington.”
“Our students are so fortunate to have the opportunity to be a part of Marymount University. Their history and legacy make it a great match for our school community. We couldn’t be more proud to enter into this partnership with them,” said Dr. Thomas Powell, president of Saint John’s Catholic Prep.
Under the terms of the agreement:

  • Saint John’s Catholic Prep students with a 3.0 grade point average (no required test score) or a 2.8 GPA and a 1030 SAT (or a 20 ACT composite) are guaranteed admission to Marymount.
  • Students will be awarded a minimum $12,500 scholarship from Marymount, renewable annually for up to four years, provided they maintain good standing.
  • Students will be awarded an additional $2,000 Saint John’s Catholic Prep scholarship and a $2,000 Catholic High School scholarship, both renewable for up to four years of full-time enrollment.
  • A Marymount admissions representative will visit the high school throughout the school year to share information about its academic programs and application, admissions, financial aid and related processes.

The agreement is effective as of the Fall 2018 semester.
