Juneteenth 2024 Observance
As Juneteenth approaches, we have a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the enduring significance of this day in American history. On June 19, 1865, news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, Texas, signifying the end of slavery in the U.S. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is a time to reflect on African Americans’ struggles, resilience, and achievements throughout history.
At Marymount University, we recognize the significance of Juneteenth and its importance in our ongoing journey towards equality and justice.
