Reasonable Documentation

  • The University is permitted to request reasonable documentation of a disability.  Reasonable documentation ideally includes, among other things, a basic description of the condition, manner, and duration of the impairment.  More information on SAS documentation guidelines can be found on “Defining Your Impairment.”
  • SAS bases its decision to qualify students for accommodations by information gained from the:
    • Documentation of an impairment that students have provided to SAS; and
    • Discussion of the requested accommodations through an interactive dialogue between students and SAS professionals and any relevant stakeholder whom the student authorizes to speak with SAS on their behalf.
