Career Tools

Handshake

Handshake is Marymount’s online platform for jobs, internships, recruiting events, and career fair details. Within the Handshake platform, Marymount Center for Career Development and Community Engagement partners with employers to bring jobs and internships to students. This platform allows you to:

  • Apply for full-time and part-time jobs and internships specifically posted for Marymount students and alumni
  • Register for informational sessions, networking, or recruiting events hosted by employers
  • Register for networking and opportunity/career fairs, alumni panels, and workshops hosted by Marymount’s Center for Career Development and Community Engagement
  • Schedule 1:1 appointments with Career Development staff for resume and cover letter review, mock interviews, career advising, and job/internship search help, and more
  • Receive alerts when new positions that match your preferences are posted

If you are a current Marymount student, you already have a Handshake account.

  • Please log in to your Marymount Okta Portal and click Handshake under My Apps
  • Activate your account and update job preferences
  • Complete your profile by uploading your headshot photo, adding your experiences, extracurricular activities, and skills
  • Submit your resume for Career Development review through the “documents” tab.
  • After your resume has been approved, you may start applying to employment and internship opportunities.

Interstride

Interstride is a versatile platform designed to support international students from the beginning of their educational journey through to their career development and beyond. It offers a broad range of tools tailored to enhance the international student experience, making it a comprehensive resource for career exploration, job search, and networking.

  • Jobs and Internship Portal: Students can access a job and internship aggregator that focuses on employers known for sponsoring visas and supporting international students. This includes both U.S. and global opportunities, making it easier for students to find positions that meet their specific needs, such as H1-B sponsorship​.
  • Visa Insights and Immigration Support: The platform provides detailed resources for navigating visa processes, including work authorizations like CPT, OPT, and STEM OPT extensions, which are crucial for international students in the U.S. It helps students understand the immigration landscape they will navigate during and after their studies.
  • Networking and Mentorship: Interstride facilitates connections with peers and alumni who were once international students themselves, offering a community that supports both professional and personal growth. This network is invaluable for new students trying to find their footing in a foreign educational system and job market​.
