Dr. Natoschia Scruggs
Assistant Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Director of the ABIDE Hub
Dr. Scruggs is the Assistant Provost for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (APDEI) as well as the Director of the ABIDE Hub. For more than two decades, she has developed expertise in crafting, implementing and monitoring strategic plans, projects and initiatives to promote equitable and inclusive cultures. Prior to joining Marymount, she held a variety of progressively responsible teaching and leadership roles rooted in promoting DEI at other academic institutions, nonprofits, and within government, including having served as principal advisor on research to Ambassador Susan Rice, Ambassador Samantha Power, and Ambassador Nikki Haley at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
She is particularly proud of having served as a thought and strategy leader at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University and the City of Boston where she combined forces with fantastic, collaborative colleagues and achieved some monumental goals. At Marymount, her absolute favorite part of the roles she plays is connecting with students and helping them to thrive! In addition to hands-on, extensive experience working with refugees, asylees, and survivors of gender-based violence, Dr. Scruggs has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on these topics. She earned an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in African Diaspora Studies with a focus on global migration and emphasis on women, gender and sexuality from the University of California, Berkeley. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and was a Ford Foundation Fellow, Rotary Ambassadorial Fellow, Fulbright Scholar, and American Field Service high school foreign exchange student.
Muzhgan Yarmohammadi
Assistant Director of the ABIDE Hub
Muzhgan Yarmohammadi is the Assistant Director of the ABIDE Hub. She joined Marymount as a Research Fellow in April 2022. Muzhgan has over fifteen years of experience working with national and international organizations in the areas of program management and monitoring project implementation as they relate to women’s rights, political participation, disability, and civil society engagement.
In her recent role in Afghanistan, Muzhgan worked with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) as a Senior Program Officer, leading women’s access to justice programs. In her role, she worked with different civil society organizations to serve women affected by violence and advocate for bans on inhumane, harmful, and discriminatory practices toward women. Before joining USIP, Muzhgan worked with the National Democratic Institute, where she led programs that aimed to increase women’s political participation with a focus on supporting women who ran for parliamentary and provincial council seats and supporting women’s activism within major political parties. She also has a background serving people with disability’s inclusion programs at Handicap International.
Ms. Yarmohammadi has a bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science. She was working on her thesis for her master’s degree in International Relations before the collapse of Afghanistan into the hands of the Taliban.
