David Levine, who served for 10 years as president and CEO of the Montreal Health and Social Service Agency, will discuss how Canada responds to a public health crisis during a public health forum on April 14 at Marymount University. His remarks will be followed by a panel discussion with other experts.
The forum, “The Changing Landscape of Public Health at Home and Abroad: The Latest Challenges in Public and Global Health,” will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in Reinsch Auditorium on Marymount’s main campus, 2807 North Glebe Road. Registration and networking begins at 6 p.m., followed by Levine’s talk at 6:30 p.m. The panel discussion is scheduled for 7 p.m. with a question-and-answer session at 8 p.m.
The forum is co-hosted by Marymount University and the National Capital Healthcare Executives.
Levine, now president of D.L. Strategic Consulting, is an adjunct professor in the department of family medicine at McGill University and a clinical professor in the department of health administration at the University of Montreal. He consults primarily in health care system strategies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from McGill University, a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from Imperial College in London, England, and a master’s in health administration from the University of Montreal.
Panelists will include:
• Dr. Jeffrey DiLisi, senior vice president and chief medical officer of Virginia Hospital Center
• Col. Mark Harris, chief of preventive medicine and the public health emergency officer for the U.S. Army Northern Regional Medical Command
• Dr. Uma Kelekar, assistant professor of health care management, Marymount University
• Sheryl Zwerski, acting director, Prevention Sciences Program, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
The panel will be moderated by Donald Levanty, chair of Marymount’s department of health care management and legal administration.

Cost for those who register before April 6 is $35 for members of National Capital Healthcare Executives; $45 for nonmembers; and $15 for students.
