Panel Discussion on People Analytics on April 27

Marymount University is inviting human resource managers, directors and upper-level managers to a free panel discussion on People Analytics, a cutting edge tool that helps organizations of all sizes make data-based decisions. Hosted by MU’s Human Resource Management and Admissions departments, the panel will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27 in the Reinsch Library Auditorium, 2807 North Glebe Road. A networking reception will be held from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.

“This technique is now a necessity for leaders to make hardcore business decisions about the people and management processes in their organization,” said Dr. Virginia Bianco-Mathis, a professor of human resources and chair of the Management & Marketing Department. “They have to be skilled and seasoned in this area.”

The panel will discuss the tools, research and practical application of analytics, she said, which moves beyond human resource measurement toward the more sophisticated science of noting trends for strategic decision making.

Panelists include Dr. Kenneth Yusko from Marymount University and Sienna Consulting, Nik Shah of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Kimberly Russell of Phillips Corporation, and Bianco-Mathis.

Yusko, a professor of management and human resources, is an expert in personnel selection, development, and performance management systems. He has consulted for Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, partnerships and government agencies.

Shah has developed and implemented strategic human resource programs to improve HR performance and workforce productivity by leveraging data and analytics. He is PricewaterhouseCoopers global spokesperson on employee engagement and workforce analytics.

Russell began her career in accounting and moved to human resources to manage benefits, employee relations and compliance. For the past year she’s worked with an internal Phillips team to develop people analytics.

In addition to her work at MU, Bianco-Mathis is a consultant for Strategic Performance Group. Her publications and research concentrate on leadership, coaching and organizational change.
