University Classrooms

Persons who remove their masks in a physically small classroom environment for a prolonged period do not necessarily help to maintain a safe learning environment for their peers.  Going forward, classroom instruction creates some unique health and safety concerns for all persons occupying that physical space.  These concerns do not exist in other circumstances.  For example, live classroom attendance may reflect 5-15 persons, seated in a contained airspace for one to two hours and sometimes longer.  This context is far different from the brief interactions for which most patron-based (this includes student-based) mask-related communications accommodations are typically applied.
