Library Instruction

The mission of the Library Instruction Program is to advance the information literacy of Marymount University students and faculty by addressing both immediate curricular needs and lifelong learning.

Through person-to-person, classroom, and online methods, library instruction promotes information literacy and awareness and use of the library and Washington Research Library Consortium (WRLC) resources. Information literacy is “the ability to identify, locate, evaluate, and use information for a specific purpose.”

Library instruction is available to current Marymount students, faculty, staff, and administrators.

Scheduling

To schedule a library instruction session, please contact your Library Liaison.

• Sessions should be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.
• All reservations are tentative until confirmed by the library faculty member who will teach the class.
• Library instruction sessions at the main campus are taught in the Gomatos Information Literacy Room, the Library Instruction Room, or the Curriculum Materials Center. Library instruction sessions can also be held at the Ballston Center, or at an off-campus location for Distance Education classes.
• Instructors are encouraged to attend.
