Barry Gallery Reception for “Yes, It’s Colored Pencil!!” Exhibit on Jan. 16

The public is invited to a free opening reception for a colored pencil exhibit curated by Trudi Van Dyke from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16 at the Barry Gallery at Marymount University. The exhibition titled “Yes, It’s Colored Pencil!!” will feature 30 works from a group of Washington, D.C., area artists put together by Van Dyke, a nationally known curator and fine arts consultant.

“It will include a variety of subjects from landscapes to figurative work that can be done with colored pencils,” said Judy Bass, a professor of fine arts and director of the gallery. “What I like about the medium is that in addition to very detailed work it can feature both very strong and bold colors and very subtle colors. The variety is just remarkable.”

The Barry Gallery, located in the Reinsch Library at Marymount, 2807 North Glebe Road, is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is free.

The exhibit will run through March 5. For more information on the gallery, go to marymount.edu/barrygallery.
