Retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal to discuss new book

Retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal will introduce concepts from his book Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World, in a talk from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tonight (June 22) at Reinsch Library Auditorium on the Marymount University campus. The event is free and open to the public. The first 100 people to arrive will receive a free copy of the book.

Marymount University, along with TandemNSI, a public/private partnership focused on connecting national security agencies with entrepreneurs, is hosting the event.

McChrystal, who now works with businesses and non-profits on embracing his “faster, flatter, flexible” approaches to improving innovation, will share his experience at applying entrepreneurial approaches on the battlefield in Iraq and its impact on the war.

In the book, McChrystal and his colleagues show how the challenges they faced in Iraq can be relevant to countless businesses, nonprofits and other organizations. With the world changing faster than ever, they write that the smartest response for those in charge is to give small groups the freedom to experiment while driving everyone to share what they learn across the entire organization.

Free parking is available at the White Garage.
