A Domestic Intelligence panel discussion with former senior government officials responsible for protecting the U.S. homeland will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on March 1 in Marymount University’s Reinsch Library auditorium. Panelists will assess current threats to national security and take audience questions. Sponsored by Marymount’s Department of Forensic & Legal Psychology, the event is free and open to the public.
“It’s a unique opportunity – especially for a university setting – to bring these individuals together on a topic of critical interest,” said Dr. William Costanza, a Marymount assistant professor of forensic and legal psychology and a retired CIA officer.
The panel will be moderated by Joseph W. Augustyn, executive vice president of security and intelligence at Jefferson Waterman International and a former deputy associate director of central intelligence for Homeland Security.
Panelists include: Stephen R. Kappes, partner and chief operating officer at Torch Hill Investments and former deputy director of the CIA; Michael Rolince, a consultant to the FBI’s Countering Violent Extremism office and former special agent in charge of counterterrorism at the FBI’s Washington Field Office; and David Cohen, Starr Companies advisor for political risk and former deputy director of operations of the National Clandestine Service. Cohen was appointed deputy commissioner of intelligence for the New York City Police Department in the wake of 9/11.
