Teaching Area<\/b><\/p>\n Research Interests<\/b><\/p>\n Dr. Bakker\u2019s research to date has focused on a number of political and economic aspects of transnational migration, with a particular emphasis on Mexican migration to the United States.<\/p>\n His work has explored the cross-border organizing practices of Mexican migrants living in the United States, the construction of migrants\u2019 remittances as a development tool, and dynamics of conflict and contestation related to immigration enforcement in the contemporary United States.<\/p>\n Dr. Bakker\u2019s teaching interests overlap with these research areas.
