{"id":9235,"date":"2021-05-07T15:52:57","date_gmt":"2021-05-07T19:52:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/?p=9235"},"modified":"2021-05-07T15:52:57","modified_gmt":"2021-05-07T19:52:57","slug":"wdvm-marymount-university-to-mandate-covid-19-vaccines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/blog\/wdvm-marymount-university-to-mandate-covid-19-vaccines\/","title":{"rendered":"WDVM: <em>Marymount University to mandate COVID-19 vaccines<\/em>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Marymount University will require faculty, students, and vendors to be inoculated against COVID-19.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The decision was announced Friday, less than a week ahead of the university\u2019s second vaccine clinic, in which over 1,000 people are expected to receive their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>University President Irma Becerra says students and faculty who were unable to make the first vaccine clinic will soon have the chance to get the Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccine. Marymount surveyed its faculty and staff and found between 80% and 90% of those surveyed wanted to be vaccinated.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important that we take those precautions, not only because we want everybody to be safe themselves, but also because we want to keep others safe,\u201d Becerra said. \u201cYou don\u2019t only get vaccinated for you, but you also do it for others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The university will make religious and medical exceptions.
