For the second consecutive year, a Communication student at Marymount University has been named the recipient of a scholarship bestowed by the DC Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Foundation (SDX\/DC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n David Moreno, a current Marymount junior, is one of only three recipients of SDX\/DC scholarships among all university students in the national capital region. He will receive $3,000 of financial assistance from the Foundation as he completes his studies in pursuit of a career in broadcast journalism.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter graduation, I hope to work for a local newspaper in the Washington, D.C., metro area and report on local events, sports and politics,\u201d Moreno explained. \u201cIn 10 years\u2019 time, I would like to be broadcasting on international stories for a well-known news organization such as CNN, CBS\u2019s 60 Minutes<\/em> or ABC News.\u201d<\/p>\n He becomes the second Marymount student in two years to receive a SDX\/DC scholarship. Moreno follows in the steps of Lauren Galdeano, a graduating senior and Editor-in-Chief of the The Banner<\/a>, Marymount University\u2019s student-produced newspaper, who was awarded a scholarship from the Foundation for the 2020-21 academic year.<\/p>\n
