Marymount University can help.<\/p>\n
It\u0092s hosting a free webinar, \u0093Speaking Simply: Communicating Your Science,\u0094 at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7 in Room 1021 of Caruthers Hall on the Marymount Campus, 2807 North Glebe Road, Arlington. A chance to network will precede the event at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
The webinar will be taught by Douglas Dollemore and Dr. Darcy Gentleman of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Dollemore is a senior science writer at the ACS and has more than 25 years of experience as a journalist, including work at Rodale Inc. and newspapers in Oregon, Arizona and California. Gentleman works in the ACS Ofce of Public Afairs, where he manages the ACS Science & Congress Project, coordinates social media eforts and is team leader for the 2014 Chemistry Champions.<\/p>\n
\u0093Being a successful chemist involves more than good lab work,\u0094 the ACS website notes. \u0093Having the ability to speak clearly and break down complicated concepts into simple statements is key.\u0094<\/p>\n
The event isn\u0092t just for chemists or students.<\/p>\n
\u0093This is for anyone in the community who is interested in science,\u0094 said Dr. Deana Jaber, an assistant professor of chemistry at Marymount.<\/p>\n
