Allyson Suria-Hernandez, a first-year student at Marymount University, participated in a panel discussion following the screening of the documentary \u0093Harvest of Empire: The Untold Story of Latinos in America\u0094 on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Kenmore Middle School, 200 South Carlin Springs Road.<\/p>\n
The event, which was free and open to the public, was sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities.<\/p>\n
The discussion was facilitated by Herbert \u0093Tico\u0094 Braun, a professor of history at the University of Virginia. Other participants included Emma Violand-Sanchez, vice chair of the Arlington School Board, Dulce Carrillo, former multicultural public relations manager for Arlington County, and Eduardo Lopez, producer and co-director of the film.<\/p>\n
\u0093It\u0092s probably one of the most eye-opening films out there right now about immigration issues,\u0094 said Meg Dalmut, Marymount\u0092s associate director of community engagement.<\/p>\n
