Victoria Holmes, a doctoral candidate in the counselor education and supervision program at Marymount University, has been awarded the Pete Warren Student Fellowship from the Virginia Counselors Association Foundation.<\/p>\n
Holmes is an adjunct faculty member in the undergraduate psychology program and the graduate counseling program. The Lorton native has provided individual and group counseling to military troops and family members, led a depression and anxiety seminar at a local church and worked with children of police officers killed in the line of duty.<\/p>\n
Fellows are chosen based on their scholarship, demonstrated interest in leadership for the counseling profession, a desire to help Virginia\u0092s citizens and knowledge of the profession\u0092s critical, ethical and multicultural values. They receive paid membership in the Virginia Counselors Association and their local student chapter for the year, along with paid registration for the VCA conference, recognition in its publications and a $100 stipend.<\/p>\n
In the fall, Holmes received the Outstanding Graduate Student Leadership Award from the European branch of the American Counseling Association in Milan, Italy.<\/p>\n
