When Marymount University freshman Ryan Dyck watched the first episode of Netflix\u0092s \u0093Daredevil,\u0094 he thought it was a shame that visually impaired people wouldn\u0092t be able to enjoy the series about the blind superhero. So he started an online petition urging the company to add a visual description option for its original programming.<\/p>\n
Four days later, Netflix added the option.<\/p>\n
\u0093I knew they would take notice and expected the petition to have an effect,\u0094 the criminal justice major from Moorpark, California, said. \u0093But I didn\u0092t expect it to happen that quickly.\u0094<\/p>\n
Dyck had learned about change.org<\/a> when someone from the organization spoke in Professor Justin Goodman\u0092s sociology course. Change.org<\/a>\u0092s stated mission is to \u0093empower people everywhere to create the change they want to see.\u0094<\/p>\n \u0093It just struck me on a personal level,\u0094 Dyck said. \u0093I thought this would be the perfect thing to start a petition about.\u0094<\/p>\n Then Dyck contacted the accessible Netflix project, founded by a blind journalist named Robert Kingett.
