Participants will take daily classes taught by Marymount faculty and engage in hands-on activities. They will also hear guest speakers who are information technology professionals, be mentored by Marymount students and learn about college majors and career opportunities in technology.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>GenCyber Residential Camp<\/strong>, July 5-17, is for students ages 16 to 18 as part of a pilot program to increase awareness of cybersecurity at the high school level. Students will live on campus and have hands-on experiences in cybersecurity with a focus on defending the nation&#8217;s critical assets. They will also visit cybersecurity centers in nearby Washington, D.C.<\/li>\n<li><strong>GenCyber Day Camp<\/strong>, July 20-24, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Through a central exercise involving the protection of digitized healthcare records, students in grades nine through 12 will gain knowledge and hands-on experience in cybersecurity. The institute will culminate with a cybersecurity competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u0093The whole idea behind the cybersecurity camps is to provide the experience of working in a true cybersecurity environment,\u0094 said <a href=\"~\/Home\/Contact-Us\/Directory\/?profileid=37\">Dr. Diane Murphy<\/a>, chair of Marymount\u0092s Department of Information of Technology. \u0093And there\u0092s no better place to have it than in the Washington, D.C., area, which is the center of the cybersecurity universe.\u0094<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Mobile App Development Institute<\/strong>, July 13-17, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. It\u0092s for students in grades eight through 12 who want to explore a possible career in the development of mobile applications. Those attending will build fully functioning mobile apps and share their projects with friends and family at a culminating showcase.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>GenCyber Day Camp and Mobile App Development Institute require a $100 application fee. Program costs for all three events are covered through grants from the National Science Foundation.
