Marymount University has established the Pablo Enriquez Memorial Scholarship in honor of a beloved student who passed away July 2 from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. It will be awarded to Marymount students majoring in Information Technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

Enriquez was a senior pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0093Pablo came to Marymount two years ago with a plan to study hard for his degree and get a good job to support his family, including his daughter, who was soon to be born,\u0094 said his advisor, Dr. Diane Murphy<\/a>, chair of the Information Technology, Management Sciences, and Cybersecurity Department. \u0093His success at school as an undergraduate motivated him to study more and he was in my office this summer looking at the possibility of a master\u0092s degree.\u00a0He was a wonderful person and student, and I will miss him.\u0094\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Murphy helped him secure an internship with the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, which led to an IT staff job there.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kimberly Murphy, director of information technology for the Diocese, said that though she only had the privilege of knowing Pablo for eight months, he made a huge impact on her, the IT team and the staff of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0093The program he pursued at Marymount provided him with a solid foundation for his work here,\u0094 Murphy added. \u0093He was both excited and enthusiastic about his course work, and had a natural curiosity and desire to learn. Those are the attributes that I want to remember and honor through the creation of a memorial scholarship for him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0093I think Pablo would be pleased that other students who share his love of learning and interest in computers will have this scholarship to help fund their studies,\u0094 she added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marymount School of Business Administration Dean Jim Ryerson<\/a> announced the new scholarship.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u0093Our hearts are broken over the loss of this special young man and the promise his life held, and we grieve with his family,\u0094 Ryerson said. \u0093We are very grateful to the Catholic Diocese of Arlington for recommending that Marymount establish this scholarship in his memory and enthusiastically support honoring Pablo in such a meaningful way. It is a profoundly fitting tribute for Pablo, who was loved and well respected in the Marymount community family.\u0094<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to his wife and young daughter, Enriquez is survived by his parents, his sister and a large extended family.
