Marymount University will conduct a series of active shooter drills starting Thursday, Oct. 6 on its main campus, 2807 North Glebe Road.<\/p>\n

\u0093We want to let area residents know what\u0092s going on so they\u0092re not alarmed if they notice emergency vehicles on campus during these times,\u0094 said Paul Easton<\/a>, Marymount\u0092s associate director of campus safety & emergency management.<\/p>\n

Easton said campus security will be entering select buildings and sounding air horns to simulate gunshots, and observing how students, faculty and staff make decisions to run, hide or fight under various scenarios.<\/p>\n

\u0093We\u0092ll have observers in all parts of the buildings and will meet afterword for a debriefing to see how we did,\u0094 Easton said. \u0093We\u0092re using these drills as a test for ourselves and to see how we can better educate our community on how to stay safe.\u0094<\/p>\n

The drills will be conducted between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. on the following dates in designated buildings:<\/p>\n
