Noelle Larino, a rising junior at Marymount University, was awarded the Hester B. Provensen and Jean C. Miller Scholarship by the Capital Speakers Club of Washington, D.C., at its end-of-year luncheon June 6. The merit-based scholarship is awarded annually to a woman majoring in communication, speech or a similar field of study.

“Noelle is very dedicated and hard-working,” said her advisor, Dr. Megan McFarlane, assistant professor of communication. McFarlane noted that Larino competed against students across the D.C. area as a sophomore and that winners are typically juniors.

A communication major with a minor in public history from Great Meadows, N.J., Larino maintains a 4.0 GPA and is in Marymount’s honors program. During her sophomore year, she served on the Campus Ministry Leadership Team and was selected among all honors students and Student Government Association representatives to moderate an MU faculty panel on the #metoo movement. She presented a paper at the 2018 Virginia Association of Communication Arts and Sciences Conference at George Mason University in April.
