With keynote addresses and team empathy exercise to spark ideas, participants will use design thinking, a systematic design methodology that provides a solution-based approach to solving problems. Participants will collaborate to improve design, function and aesthetics in technology, services, and product design. The goal is to use design thinking to go beyond stereotypes and build compassionate solutions for all. The exercise allows students to work with people with a range of abilities to test and design better products to better meet their needs.<\/p>\n<p>The event will bring together students, designers, faculty, caregivers, teachers, and children with or without disabilities. It will open with keynote speakers AJ and Devin Wildes, a mother\/son duo (a designer and an artist with autism), who will speak on Design Empathy: Turning Challenges into Artistry.<\/p>\n<p>The event will take place Friday November 2, 2018 from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM in the Gerard Dining Hall.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/designathon.marymount.design\/\">More information.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During Marymount&#8217;s 2018 Play for All Design-athon, teams will work on creating usable and accessible products for children of all ages and abilities.
