Becerra danced the cha-cha all the way to first place against other local celebrities.<\/p>\n<p>Becerra was dancing for her charity of choice, the newly created Sister Majella Berg Internship Fund. The fund is designed to provide a stipend for Marymount students who take on unpaid internships.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Being that service is one of the pillars of a Marymount education, together with intellectual curiosity and global awareness, many students want to take on an internship that is based on service,&#8221; Becerra said to the Fairfax Times. &#8220;Most of the service internships are unpaid, so we wanted to provide some financial support for students that want to take on a service internship.&#8221;\u0094<\/p>\n<p>Becerra raised over $50,000 for the internship fund, and took home $10,000 more as the winner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marymount President Dr. Irma Becerra took home the coveted mirror ball trophy as the winner of the 2018 DC&#8217;s Dancing Stars Gala.
