{"id":1946,"date":"2020-01-22T15:17:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-22T15:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/developmenttwo.marymount.edu\/blog\/marymount%c2%92s-phi-kappa-phi-recognized-as-a-circle-of-excellence-gold-chapter\/"},"modified":"2020-01-22T15:17:00","modified_gmt":"2020-01-22T15:17:00","slug":"marymount%c2%92s-phi-kappa-phi-recognized-as-a-circle-of-excellence-gold-chapter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/blog\/marymount%c2%92s-phi-kappa-phi-recognized-as-a-circle-of-excellence-gold-chapter\/","title":{"rendered":"Marymount\u0092s Phi Kappa Phi recognized as a Circle of Excellence Gold Chapter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation\u0092s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, recently recognized its Marymount University chapter as a Circle of Excellence Gold Chapter, the second-highest commendation a chapter can receive from the organization.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe award is given to chapters that exceed expectations in chapter operations and demonstrate sustainability and vitality as a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u0093The Marymount University chapter is less than one year old, having only been installed in February of 2019,\u0094 said Alison Gregory, Marymount\u0092s University Librarian and the chapter\u0092s President. \u0093We are thrilled to be honored with this recognition of our work in establishing Chapter 351, and we look forward to sustaining and expanding the Society\u0092s commitment to recognizing excellence in all disciplines.\u0094<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Circle of Excellence program was introduced in 2018. The program recognized 108 chapters this year, including 37 with the Gold distinction.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nThe Circle of Excellence Gold honor is given to chapters which scored a 95-99 out of 100 on a criteria scale that evaluates chapter health indicators. By receiving the Gold distinction, the Marymount chapter is recognized as a thriving organization that holds annual initiations, upholds the Society Bylaws, regularly attends chapter training opportunities and submits a chapter-endorsed nominee to the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Program.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\n\u0093The Circle of Excellence program recognizes Phi Kappa Phi chapters that have gone above and beyond to promote academic excellence on their campuses,\u0094 said Dr. Mary Todd, the Society\u0092s Executive Director.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nPhi Kappa Phi currently has chapters on more than 300 campuses in the U.S. and the Philippines. Membership is by invitation only to the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students, and 7.5 percent of juniors.
