Earlier this month, The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y., made the unfortunate announcement that it would cease academic instruction after the end of the 2023-2024 academic year. Its looming closure impacts thousands of undergraduate and graduate students who are now searching for a new institution where they can complete their collegiate studies.

In response to this urgent need, Marymount University’s Office of Admissions is committed to helping all students affected by the closing of The College of Saint Rose. With its Catholic tradition and tight-knit campus community, Marymount is a great place for transfer students. And its location in Arlington, Va. — just five miles from Washington, D.C. — provides excellent academic, professional and cultural opportunities for all students. Plus, the University’s 22 NCAA Division III athletic teams are ready to welcome new student-athletes into the Saints family.

Here, we understand that the path to a four-year degree is not always linear. Below are reasons why students from The College of Saint Rose should consider Marymount during this time of transition.

1. Shared values and history

Marymount is a Catholic university founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary (RSHM). While the University has evolved in many ways throughout the years, it remains firmly committed to its Catholic mission and identity as it provides a values-based education that promotes both intellectual and spiritual development. With our shared Catholic heritage and origins, Marymount’s campus will provide a familiar and comfortable environment for students from The College of Saint Rose.

2. Scholarships

Scholarship opportunities are available that range from $12,00 to $24,000 for all students. Eligible full-time transfer applicants are automatically offered the highest scholarship they qualify for from the list below:
