{"id":15269,"date":"2022-11-15T13:00:28","date_gmt":"2022-11-15T18:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/?p=15269"},"modified":"2022-11-16T10:49:28","modified_gmt":"2022-11-16T15:49:28","slug":"for-second-straight-year-mus-pkp-chapter-earns-platinum-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/blog\/for-second-straight-year-mus-pkp-chapter-earns-platinum-status\/","title":{"rendered":"For second-straight year, MU\u2019s PKP chapter earns Platinum status"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phikappaphi.org\/\">Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi<\/a>, the nation\u2019s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines, has recognized the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/marymountphikappaphi\/\">Marymount University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi<\/a> as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phikappaphi.org\/about\/news\/2022\/11\/14\/congratulations-2022-2023-circle-of-excellence-chapters\">Circle of Excellence Platinum Chapter<\/a>, the highest commendation a chapter can receive from the organization.<\/p>\n<p>The award is given to chapters that exceed expectations in chapter operations and demonstrate sustainability and vitality as a chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. Marymount\u2019s chapter earned Platinum status <a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/blog\/marymount-phi-kappa-phi-recognized-as-platinum-chapter-for-first-time\/\">for the first time in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur chapter is very proud to be recognized with Phi Kappa Phi\u2019s Circle of Excellence Platinum Award for the second year in a row,\u201d said chapter president <a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/staff-members\/sarah-fischer\/\">Dr. Sarah Fischer<\/a>, Assistant Professor of <a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/academics\/college-of-sciences-and-humanities\/school-of-social-and-behavioral-sciences\/undergraduate-programs\/criminal-justice\/\">Criminal Justice<\/a> at Marymount University. \u201cThis award recognizes the work of our chapter\u2019s executive committee, the support of our entire campus and our University\u2019s excellent students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Circle of Excellence Platinum honor is given to chapters which scored a perfect 100 on a criteria scale that evaluates chapter health indicators. By receiving the Platinum distinction, the Marymount chapter is recognized as a thriving organization that <a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/blog\/over-100-new-inductees-initiated-into-marymounts-phi-kappa-phi-chapter\/\">holds annual initiations<\/a>, upholds the Society Bylaws, regularly attends chapter training opportunities and submits a chapter-endorsed nominee to the Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship Program.<\/p>\n<p>Chapters achieving the Circle of Excellence Platinum distinction receive a commendation letter from the Society, special recognition on the Phi Kappa Phi website, a specially-designed logo and a cash award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur chapters and officers are the foundation of Phi Kappa Phi,\u201d said Dr. Bradley R. Newcomer, Executive Director and CEO of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. \u201cWe are proud to recognize and celebrate the chapters that exemplify our mission through the Circle of Excellence Awards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marymount joins 22 other chapters across the country in receiving the Platinum distinction this year. The Circle of Excellence program, which was introduced in 2018, recognized 70 chapters in total for its 2022-2023 awards.
