Recent Marymount graduate Bontu Workineh will be using her Heath Sciences skills in Ethiopia for the next two years, working as a Community Health Educator in the Peace Corps<\/a>.
\n 
\nThe Peace Corps is a service opportunity run though the U.S. government to promote peace and friendship between the U.S. and other countries. Volunteers live in different worldwide communities for two to three years, helping interested countries that have needs for trained individuals in certain fields.
\n 
\nWorkineh, who would like to start her own nonprofit in the future, said she is honored to be selected for such an esteemed global opportunity.
\n 
\n\u201cI think health aligns perfectly with my future dreams of wanting to work with a nonprofit that educates women and children on health issues,\u201d Workineh said.
\n 
\nThe former Saint credits her time at Marymount for preparing her for the Peace Corps. Workineh was surrounded by students from all over the world while on campus, giving her a true global perspective. A domestic Study Away program<\/a> in New Orleans also inspired her to do something similar in the future, but with a health focus.
\n 
\nHer advice for others?<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t be afraid of challenges. Challenge yourself,\u201d Workineh added. \u201cI was definitely scared of applying for the Peace Corps, but at the end of the day, life is about taking risks. Explore, and help people while you\u2019re at it.\u201d
