Black History Month is a time to reflect on and celebrate the achievements, contributions, joys and struggles of Black people throughout history. It is an opportunity to acknowledge the resilience, strength and creativity of the Black community, while also recognizing the historical injustices and systemic challenges we have faced.<\/p>\n
Black History Month is also a chance for people of all backgrounds to come together, learn and actively engage in creating a more inclusive and equitable society. In this month and others, we celebrate diversity and recognize the ongoing efforts towards social justice and equality.<\/p>\n
This year, I am volunteering in my community and at my children\u2019s schools. <\/p>\n
Jump right in! I\u2019ve been the first Black person in a lot of my leadership roles and I know what it\u2019s like to look around and not see someone from your culture represented in that space. Don\u2019t let that be a deterrent. Sometimes you have to create the space for yourself.<\/p>\n
