Marymount University (\u201cUniversity\u201d) recognizes that there may be instances when checks are paid to representatives of an active employee, a former employee, or a deceased employee.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.0\u00a0 General Process<\/span><\/h2>\n

1.0.1\u00a0 Checks will be released to a representative of an active employee only upon receipt of written instructions to do so. Such instructions must be signed by the employee. A manager shall verify the signature of the employee.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.0.2\u00a0 Checks will be released to a representative of a former employee only upon receipt of written instructions to do so. Such instructions must be signed by the former employee. A member of Human Resources shall verify the signature of the former employee. A former employee may request that their “final check(s)” be mailed “certified, return receipt requested,” and an appropriate notation shall be made in the former employee’s personnel folder.<\/span><\/p>\n

1.0.3\u00a0 Checks will be released to a representative of a totally incapacitated employee by a member of Human Resources upon receipt of the appropriate legal document such as a power of attorney.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1.0.4\u00a0 Checks will be released to a representative of a deceased employee by a member of Human Resources upon receipt of the appropriate legal documents such as a copy order appointing a personal representative, executor or administrator.
