Retrieving conduct letters<\/h2>\n

The University sends student conduct letters via the university’s conduct records system, Maxient. Students will receive an email to their Marymount email account from a University staff member or office which provides a link to “Pick Up Letter.” Once the student clicks on the link, the student will be prompted to use their credentials to log into the Marymount Portal. The letter will then display as an Adobe PDF document. Email notifications will bear the name of a Marymount University employee or office followed by \u201c(via Maxient)\u201d and will use the email address: notifications@maxient.com<\/em>.<\/span> These are official University letters, and the University expects that you will retrieve and carefully review them.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please note: Failure to retrieve a letter is neither\u00a0a valid reason for failing to comply with the instructions of the University nor a basis for appeal.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hearings<\/h2>\n

Unless otherwise noted in the letter, student conduct hearings are administrative hearings, meaning that students will meet with one or two hearing officers who will discuss the case with the student. While students may have advisors and witnesses and submit evidence, administrative hearings are intended to be conversational and educational in nature<\/i>. At the end of a hearing, the hearing officer(s) will\u00a0decide whether the student violated university policy based upon what was more likely than not to have occurred.<\/p>\n

In some instances, the University will use a formal conduct board in which the student presents the case before a panel of University students and\/or employees. These cases are generally more formal in nature and the procedures are articulated in Section 7 of the 2024-2025 Community Standards “Blue Book”<\/a>.<\/p>\n
