As the academic year draws to a close, we need to share key details about the process and timeline for moving out of the residence halls. This information will help ensure you’re well-prepared for a smooth transition. Please note that all non-graduating students must vacate the residence halls within 24 hours after their final exam or by 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2024\u2014whichever occurs first. Strictly, no exceptions will be made. Failure to vacate by the specified hall closing date will result in a charge of $100 per hour after the 5 p.m. deadline.<\/span><\/p>\n

Graduating Seniors Move-Out<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The residence halls close promptly at 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2024, for graduating seniors ATTENDING SENIOR WEEK EVENTS.<\/strong> All residents will be expected to remove themselves and their belongings from their room (and building) by this time. No entry will be allowed after 12 p.m. on this day. No exceptions. If you leave after the closing deadline, you will be charged $100 per hour after 12 p.m.. \u00a0Please utilize “Senior Week” to pack and prepare for move-out. We want you to be able to enjoy graduation day, and the day will be easier if you take some time during the week to clean, pack, and prepare for closing. In past years, residents who have moved out Friday night and returned their keys before graduation have had a relaxing and celebratory graduation day. We highly encourage you to take this opportunity to celebrate without the stress of moving out.<\/span><\/p>\n

STANDARD CHECKOUT PROCEDURE<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Whether one or all room residents are checking out, an inspection of the entire room and\/or bedrooms (including common spaces) being vacated must be completed. All students must return their room in as good condition as it was received – with allowance for reasonable and customary wear and tear.\u00a0 If there is any damage or need for extraordinary cleaning, the RA will try to establish responsibility among the room’s residents at that time.\u00a0 This information will be recorded on the room condition report (RCR).\u00a0 Residents are encouraged to determine responsibility for damages and submit it to the Director of Experience (via MU email account) before the move-out appointment. Determination of a responsible party is important because all room residents will be assessed a portion of the cost if the responsible individual is not identified.<\/span><\/p>\n
