Please review the RA position description before applying.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The RA is an integral position in the Residential Education program. They are responsible for developing engaging, inclusive hall communities that contribute to student academic, personal, and professional success. They support student involvement, personal agency, and global leadership by fostering strong, intentionally vibrant residential communities that support the university&#8217;s mission. Student Living encourages all qualified students to apply. The invitation to apply is inclusive and is not limited to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, or physical ability.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Required Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To hold a Resident Assistant (RA) position, a student must fulfill the following criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RAs must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 semester GPA throughout employment.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Resident Assistants must have lived in the residence halls for at least 1 full semester prior to employment. Exceptions must be reviewed and determined by the Director of Residence Life.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ability to commit to the position for the full school year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must remain in good standing with the University and with the department.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must be eligible to live on campus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must not be on academic or disciplinary probation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Resident Assistants will not be able to hold the following positions in Student Government concurrently to being an RA:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">President<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vice President<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commitments Outside of the RA Position (Work, Extra-Curricular Activities, Internships, Other Student Leadership Roles) should not exceed a combined total of 10 hours per week.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Failure to successfully meet any of these requirements will result in performance discipline and\/or termination.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Job Expectations<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following job expectations are outlined to assist both RAs and residents in their endeavors to be academically, personally, and professionally successful. RAs serve as an educator, counselor, administrator and role model for approximately 30-60 residents living on a designated floor or wing within university sanctioned housing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Community Engagement and Resident Relationships<\/b><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Direct residents in behaviors, activities, and interactions that will foster a sense of community and connection to Marymount University:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Help residents adjust to roommates, floormates, the residence halls, and the university.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Establish, develop, and maintain a healthy relationship with each member of your community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work cooperatively with residents to maintain the rights and privacy of all residents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assist residents with their personal and group concerns.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide resources and support to all residents in their pursuit of an education. Support the academic, personal, and professional growth of all summer residential students.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Design opportunities for residents to interact and create social connections with floor communities and campus community as a whole.\u00a0 Create 1 large scale program to build and enhance community as established by Student Living.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Develop and maintain individual relationships with each resident in the assigned community.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encourage and support residents with their involvement in programming, and summer campus activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support large scale department sponsored events.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide and maintain resource information on bulletin boards and other resources which contribute to student academic, personal, and professional success.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Role Model\/Student Leader<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The RA will abide by all University rules and regulations maintaining the highest level of academic and personal integrity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Model behavior that emulates a Marymount University service-oriented student lifestyle.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maintain confidentiality except when doing so may endanger the well-being of an individual and\/or the community or as prescribed by law.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Policy Enforcement and Crisis Response<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The RA will take appropriate action and reinforce University policy towards individuals who do not abide by the university rules and regulations as defined in the Student Code of Conduct.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The RA will participate in on-call, crisis response rotations and will respond to campus, community, and resident emergencies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carry out department guidelines for helping residents and dealing with emergencies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Administrative Support &amp; Responsibilities<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The RA will carry out, accurately and punctually, all assigned duties and responsibilities outlined in the Work Agreement and Position Expectations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The RA is responsible for communicating with their supervisor through weekly reports, staff, and one on one meetings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Complete room inventories, damage reports, occupancy reports, work orders, and other reports as assigned.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The RA will support and perform all opening and closing duties as designated by Student Living.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Partner and work cooperatively with all staff members and campus\/community partners of Marymount University.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Act as a liaison between the students and professional staff, campus\/community partners, and Student Living.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additional duties may be assigned related to the Resident Assistant role based on department need.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Commitment<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working a total of 20 hours per week.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Written communication and approval from professional staff supervisors for weekday time away from campus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must be willing to commit to work with supervisor and Student Living staff for the dates outlined below.
