Living with a roommate and suite mate in college can be both exciting and challenging. Here are some tips to help you navigate this living arrangement successfully:<\/span><\/p>\n

Set aside time to discuss expectations, boundaries, and concerns with your roommate and suite mate. This will help avoid misunderstandings and foster a respectful living environment.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Set ground rules: Establish clear guidelines for shared spaces, such as cleaning responsibilities, quiet hours, and guest policies. Make sure everyone is on the same page regarding these rules to promote harmony and respect among roommates.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Respect personal space: College life can be hectic, and everyone needs their own space to unwind and relax. Be mindful of your roommates’ need for privacy and personal space. Avoid borrowing or using their belongings without permission.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Maintain cleanliness: Keeping the living space clean and tidy is important for everyone’s well-being. Create a cleaning schedule with your roommates to ensure that responsibilities are shared fairly. Regularly clean up after yourself and encourage others to do the same.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Be considerate of noise: Noise levels can be a common source of conflict among roommates. Respect quiet hours, especially during exams or when someone needs to study. If you plan to have friends over or play music, check with your roommates to ensure it doesn’t disturb them.<\/span><\/li>\n

    The occupants of each room or apartment will collaborate with the Resident Assistant (RA) to establish the following agreement. It is important for residents to engage in open and sincere discussions regarding their expectations of one another. If any adjustments to this agreement are necessary during the year, residents are encouraged to consult their RA. Please refer to the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct for detailed policies. It is essential to ensure that the agreements made do not contradict Marymount policies.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It addresses the “how-to’s” of community life for students and those who support them. It offers insights on getting involved, managing conflict, and other aspects of living in a community. We believe this resource will be helpful in navigating your experience in the residence halls.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Roommate Connections<\/a>:<\/strong> This brochure focuses specifically on the importance of cultivating a positive relationship with your roommate. It highlights the potential impact on your academic success and provides guidance on fostering a lifelong friendship and support system.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
