{"id":5413,"date":"2023-02-10T10:26:52","date_gmt":"2023-02-10T15:26:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/student-life\/?page_id=5413"},"modified":"2026-03-05T15:56:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-05T20:56:08","slug":"apply-to-be-an-orientation-leader","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/student-life\/student-life\/campus-programs\/new-students\/apply-to-be-an-orientation-leader\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply to be an Orientation Leader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Want to be an Orientation Leader?\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Office of Student Engagement is seeking dedicated and hard-working undergraduate student leaders to serve as Orientation Leaders for the 2026 Orientation Program.<\/p>\n<p>In this position, students are responsible for welcoming and supporting the in-coming students, transfer students, and their families. The orientation team is responsible for leading and supporting a variety of activities, presentations, and sessions that take place during New Student Orientation.<\/p>\n<p>Orientation Leaders are the first connections students make on campus and they play a vital role in helping students and their families feel part of the Marymount Family.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;color: #ff6600\">Orientation Leader Responsibilities<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The New Student Orientation Leader will work with other staff members on a team to facilitate the Orientation program by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitating discussions with new students on sensitive issues;<\/li>\n<li>Leading interactive activities;<\/li>\n<li>Assisting in the preparation of Orientation activities and materials;<\/li>\n<li>Explaining academic opportunities and processes;<\/li>\n<li>Introducing new students to campus support services and building locations;<\/li>\n<li>Aiding in the development of class schedules;<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with the class registration process using the Student Administration System; and<\/li>\n<li>Upholding and enforcing all aspects of the University conduct code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Time Commitment\/Compensation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As a condition of employment, all Orientation Staff must be available for all required dates and programs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Orientation Leadership Training<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Orientation Leader training will begin in June. OL Training will take place in-person June 1st-5th and occur during regular business hours (9am-5pm EST) and Room and Board will be provided during training and Orientation sessions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Summer Orientation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>OLs can expect to provide in-person assistance on June 8th, June 15th, June 22nd and June 29th, and some of Welcome Week Programming.\u00a0 OLs will assist with, and lead, live group sessions during those dates from to help introduce students to Marymount&#8217;s resources and campus life.<\/p>\n<p>OLs are expected to work full-time for the session dates noted above. The breakdown of the dates include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday, June 8th, 2026<\/li>\n<li>Monday, June 15th, 2026<\/li>\n<li>Friday, June 22nd, 2026<\/li>\n<li>Monday, June 29th, 2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Orientation Leader position is a stipend position and Orientation Leaders will receive a stipend paid in biweekly increments between May and September 2026. An additional $100 will be awarded December &#8211; January 2026 for the OLs participating in the January Orientation sessions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Must maintain a 2.75 cumulative grade point average throughout employment\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Full-time Undergraduate student\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Enrolled on the campus during Spring and Fall 2026<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Good academic and disciplinary standing with the University throughout employment<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Must be available for all trainings, sessions, and select Welcome Week programs<\/li>\n<li>Must be team-oriented and comfortability in working in fast-paced environments<\/li>\n<li>Must demonstrate willingness to learn and welcome challenges<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Where can you apply?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Applications for June 2026 Orientation Leader Position are open.
