{"id":3680,"date":"2021-12-06T19:39:54","date_gmt":"2021-12-06T19:39:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/student-life\/?page_id=3680"},"modified":"2024-04-01T22:47:26","modified_gmt":"2024-04-02T02:47:26","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/student-life\/health-wellness\/counseling-center\/graduate-training-program\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"Training Info for Marymount University\u2019s Student Counseling Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 24pt; color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Information about Training at the Marymount University Student Counseling Services:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Hours: 19-24\/week; two and a half to three days\/week; daytime hours (M-F, 9-5).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">SCS attempts to offer as much flexibility as possible with regard to setting trainees\u2019<br \/>\nindividual schedules (given our space constraints) and therefore we encourage flexibility on the<br \/>\npart of trainees. We expect that trainees will maintain the same schedule for BOTH fall<br \/>\nAND spring semesters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0Caseload: 10-12 clinical hours, which will include clients (6-8, maximum); intakes (1 per<br \/>\nweek); walk-in experiences (1hr\/week); and may include groups (co-led with either a staff<br \/>\nmember or another trainee).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Outreach activities: trainees are expected to present twice on topics assigned by senior staff<br \/>\nand plan, organize and execute at least one campus-wide outreach activity during the training<br \/>\nyear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Supervision: One hour of individual supervision &amp; 1 hour of group supervision per week.<br \/>\nClarify program requirements for supervision.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Didactic seminars or case conference: 90 minutes per week; seminars will involve information<br \/>\n&amp; skills needed to work with college-aged populations regarding specific mental health issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Time will be set aside for lunch\/breaks &amp; case management.<br \/>\nKeys, computer access, email addresses, &amp; voicemail will be provided. Parking tags will be<br \/>\nprovided, as needed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Start date: Classes at MU start at the end of August; trainees will be expected to attend a two day<br \/>\norientation the week before classes start.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">End date: early to mid-May (depending on the university class schedule); time will be set<br \/>\naside to complete termination summaries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0You are not required to be present during your academic institution\u2019s winter break; however,<br \/>\nwe expect you to be here at all other times unless arrangements have been made in advance<br \/>\nwith the training coordinator and your clients.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Information about Training at the Marymount University Student Counseling Services: Hours: 19-24\/week; two and a half to three days\/week; daytime hours (M-F, 9-5).
