There is a distinction between confidential resources and reporting options. Any individual may choose to seek support from professionals on campus and in the community who hold a legally-recognized privilege. These include counselors, medical health providers, clergy and rape crisis counselors. Speaking with a confidential resource does not constitute notice to the University.
In contrast, all other University employees (who do not have legally-recognized confidentiality) are required to share information with the University’s Title IX Coordinator. This allows the University to provide resources and support to a complainant and to take consistent action to respond to the report as outlined in the Marymount University Sexual and Interpersonal Misconduct Policy and Resources.
