Any member (faculty, staff, or student) or recognized group or organization of the Marymount University community may report and/or file a report to an administrator, campus office, or Campus Safety alleging a violation of university policy or when behavior warrants attention.
- Anonymous Reports are permitted, but doing so may limit the University’s ability to investigate and/or respond.
- We encourage filling out the reporting forms with as much information as possible. Our ability to respond to a situation is limited to the amount of information provided.
- False reporting and retaliation are very serious violations of University policy. If an individual makes a false report or takes negative action towards a reporter, that individual may face consequences under the Community Code of Conduct, staff handbook, or faculty handbook.
If you submit a report and provide your contact information, you may be contacted to meet with the Dean of Students, Coordinator for Community Standards, Care Team, or Campus Safety and Security. Working together with the appropriate staff member will allow you to develop a plan for the next steps that take into account your needs. Additionally, each submitted report serves as a data point of grievances, incidents, and bias activity on our campus. We use this data to inform the annual Clery Act reporting and to create educational programming or new community standards for our campus community.

All members of the community – students, faculty, staff, and local community – with information about an incident or concern that impacts the Marymount University campus community can submit a report to the Dean of Students, Equity, and Inclusion office. Reports may include identifying information or submitted anonymously.
Sometimes situations arise in which students, parents, or faculty have concerns about a Marymount student. Whether it be a concern for a student’s health, welfare, or safety, the Office of Student Affairs is available to help. The University provides support through the Sexual and Interpersonal Misconduct Policy that can assist each individual in making these important decisions, and to the extent legally possible, will respect an individual’s autonomy in deciding how to proceed balancing the individual’s interest with its obligation to provide a safe and non-discriminatory environment for all members of the University community.
Marymount University has no tolerance for hate. The university does not tolerate hate crimes or bias-motivated incidents and will respond to them with appropriate sanctions.
Students, faculty, or staff who experience or witness any form of a hate crime or bias-motivated incident should report it immediately.
What happens after I submit a report?
When there is the potential of a code of conduct violation, the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution will facilitate a preliminary investigation, and determine the severity of the case, and the extent of the threat to the health or welfare of our community. When the incident does not rise to the level of a conduct violation, outreach may be made to all known parties to provide resources, support, and education.
In certain circumstances, once a report has been filed, the University may proceed with a pre-investigation, even if a Reporter or Complainant later chooses to retract, rescind, or recant any or all of the report or chooses not to cooperate. Action will only be taken without the consent of a Reporter or Complainant if, in the University’s judgment, such action is necessary to protect the safety, security, or integrity of the University or any of its members.
