Mary Gibson is a life-long educator. She taught elementary grades in the Arlington Public Schools for ten years before becoming an assistant principal in the school division. She then had the honor of serving as an elementary school principal in the Alexandria City Public Schools. Mary came to Marymount in 2011 to direct the PDS partnership program.
Mary uses her wide range of experiences as a classroom teacher and school principal to develop the M.Ed. students in the PDS program whom she supervises, instructs, and advises. She also contributes to the School of Education through projects related to graduate admission and the VDOE licensure application processes. Mary has been directly involved in developing and implementing the School of Education’s partnership with Arlington’s REACH Uganda. She has taken over 6 groups of Marymount students to their primary school in rural Uganda for teacher training workshops and service-learning opportunities. When not teaching, Mary enjoys travel, a good book, finding a great bargain, and testing out new recipes.
