Bio
Jennifer Spafford, Ed.D., LPC, NCC, NCSC is a Visiting Assistant professor in the School of Counseling. She has worked as a school counselor at the high school level for ten years where she was recognized by Phi Delta Kappa as an Outstanding First Year Teacher and a Marion Flagg Scholarship Recipient to PCACAC. Dr. Spafford has held several interim positions at Marymount University: Director of Student Access Services, School of Education and Human Services Associate Dean, First Year Experience Associate Dean, and Director of the Academic Advising Center, most notably creating a professional advising center. In addition, Dr. Spafford is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia and maintains a private practice serving adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Dr. Spafford holds certifications as a National Certified Counselor and National Certified School Counselor. Her research interests include multicultural counseling, Bowen Family Systems Theory, and the impact bullying has on adolescent development.
