{"id":1132,"date":"2020-10-16T15:33:08","date_gmt":"2020-10-16T15:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/developmenttwo.marymount.edu\/admissions\/?page_id=1132"},"modified":"2026-03-02T10:15:22","modified_gmt":"2026-03-02T15:15:22","slug":"international-graduate-students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/admissions\/intl-graduate-students\/","title":{"rendered":"International Graduate Students: Admissions"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Are you considered an International Graduate Student?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents (green card holders) as well as all students with any non-U.S. academic records are considered international students.<\/li>\n<li>Students who have or will attain, a bachelor\u2019s degree or higher from an accredited college or university prior to enrollment are considered graduate students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>International Graduate Students must submit the following to be considered for admission:<\/h2>\n<h6><strong>Attention<\/strong>: International applicants are strongly encouraged to submit their application and material one month prior to the <a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/admissions\/graduate-students\/applying\/\">posted departmental deadline<\/a> to allow for additional processing time of their I-20\/visa requirement.<\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed graduate application&nbsp;<a href=\"#Apply\">\u27aa<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li>Doctor of Physical Therapy Students must apply through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ptcas.org\/\">PTCAS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Certified, official transcripts\n<ul>\n<li>For university level course work completed outside of the U.S., you must submit an official course-by-course evaluation from one of the following Marymount approved evaluation agencies:\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/app.evalcompany.com\/fd938f98-7243-4646-b373-45c7f752320b\">The Evaluation Company (TEC) &#8211; formerly SpanTran,<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wes.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">World Education Services<\/a>&nbsp;(ICAP evaluation preferred)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ece.org\/ECE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Educational Credentials Evaluators<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Any&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/aice-eval.org\/members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AICE<\/a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naces.org\/members\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NACES<\/a>&nbsp;member<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Demonstration of English Language Proficiency&nbsp;<a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"#Language Proficiency\">\u27aa<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Some programs may also require additional supporting documents such as a recommendation letter&nbsp;or resume. Glebe Road<br \/>\nArlington, VA 22207<br \/>\nUSA<\/div>\n<div>\n<hr>\n<\/div>\n<h3><a id=\"Language Proficiency\" name=\"Language Proficiency\"><\/a>Demonstrate English Language Proficiency<\/h3>\n<p>Students whose native language is not English, regardless of citizenship, must provide verification of English language proficiency to be considered for admission to a graduate program.<\/p>\n<p>To meet the English Language Proficiency requirement, you must submit one of the following test scores listed below and meet the minimum indicated score requirement.&nbsp;<em>Official test score reports&nbsp;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>must<\/strong><\/span> be submitted directly from the test center to be acceptable. Submitted scores must not be more than two years old.<\/em><\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr style=\"background-color: #10069f;\">\n<td><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Test:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\"><strong>Minimum Score Requirement:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>TOEFL&nbsp;iBT<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>overall score of 5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>IELTS Academic<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>overall score of 6.5<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Pearson Test for English (PTE)<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>overall score of 58<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Duolingo English Test<\/strong><\/td>\n<td>overall score within the range of 105-110<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Graduate applicants who have a conferred Associate, Bachelor&#8217;s, or Master&#8217;s degree earned from a U.S. regionally accredited institution may be considered to have met the English language proficiency requirement.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<h3>Conditional Admission for students who do not meet the demonstrated English Language Proficiency:<\/h3>\n<p>To be considered for conditional admission, you must be enrolled in one of Marymount&#8217;s partner language institutes. Completion of an intensive English program other than the partner institutes listed will not meet the conditional admission requirement.&nbsp; Applicants who complete the levels listed below may then be fully admitted to Marymount without submitting a TOEFL, IELTS or Duolingo.<\/p>\n<p>These programs help students develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills to a level that is appropriate for university study.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants to the Counseling (M.A.), Master of Education (M.Ed.) licensure programs, Family Nurse Practitioner (M.S.N.), Forensic and Legal Psychology (M.A.), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) programs are&nbsp;NOT eligible&nbsp;for conditional admission.<\/p>\n<h4>ELS Educational Service&#8217;s English for Academic Purposes Program:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Students must&nbsp;demonstrate completion of ELS Level 112<\/li>\n<li>More information about the ELS program may be found at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.els.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.els.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Inlingua Program:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who present a Certification of English Proficiency Letter after successful completion of an upper-level course with an official transcript from&nbsp;the intensive program.<\/li>\n<li>More information about the Inlingua program may be found at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/idc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/idc.edu\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1589830174713000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHatAjjTmUL2W5Nk4Zp8rH8lURZ3Q\">https:\/\/idc.edu\/<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>International Language Academy of Washington, D.C.
