Marymount’s College of Health and Education (CHE)<\/a> presents the Spring 2026 edition of The Health and Education Herald<\/a>, highlighting the partnerships, faculty leadership and hands-on learning experiences that continue to shape the College\u2019s impact on campus and in the community.<\/p>\n

This issue celebrates several notable faculty achievements, including Dr. Nicci Dowd<\/a> beginning a historic term as president of the Division of International Special Education and Services<\/a> within the Council for Exceptional Children<\/a>, becoming the first African American to serve in the role. The newsletter also recognizes Dr. Chanel Rodriguez<\/a>, who earned national honors from the American Counseling Association<\/a>, including the 2026 Gilbert and Kathleen Wrenn Award<\/a>, and highlights new scholarship from faculty such as Dr. Shelly Aboagye<\/a>\u2019s recently accepted publication on falls prevention for older adults with mental health conditions.<\/p>\n

Students across the College continue to put their learning into action in meaningful ways. Nursing students were inducted into the Sigma Honor Society and partnered with community organizations for a prostate cancer screening initiative, while physical therapy students traveled to Guatemala for a medical mission trip<\/a> providing care and health education to local communities. Counseling students also expanded their global perspective through a study experience in Seville, Spain focused on comparative mental health practices.<\/p>\n

The newsletter also shares updates on new and growing programs within CHE, including orientation for the inaugural cohort of Marymount\u2019s Speech-Language Pathology program<\/a>, as well as celebrations of Fall 2025 Dean\u2019s List scholars and campus events such as Admitted Students Day.<\/p>\n
