Fall 2024 Global Classroom – HPR 302: Rural Health in Appalachia (3-credit course)<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

Application Deadline: Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trip Dates: Thursday, Oct. 31 – Sunday, Nov. 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

This domestic Global Classroom allows\u202fstudents in the health sciences to travel to Appalachia to volunteer with Remote Area Medical. Students will gain hands on experience in health communication and assessment skills while investigating health inequities in rural America. This semester course will include a 4-day trip trip to Clinton, TN and includes an environmental scan of the area and two full days of working with the community to address their health needs. Flights to Tennessee, lodging, and emergency travel health insurance will be provided. Students must be approved by lead faculty to be registered in the course. Spots are limited and applications may be reviewed by a panel.<\/p>\n
