Students can focus their studies with a minor in one or more of the following Design and Art specialized areas:<\/p>\n
This minor is for students interested in developing skills in both hand building and wheel ceramics. The ceramics minor requires 15 credits of coursework. This minor prepares students to enter careers that require knowledge of the fashion design process.\u00a0 Students will gain skills in understanding in the product development process, from the design of the apparel to its production and pricing. The fashion design minor requires 18 credits of coursework. This minor prepares students for careers in high-demand fields in graphic communication and media design at corporations, government agencies, design studios, advertising agencies, book magazine and newspaper publisher, web and mobile app developers, exhibit design and video and motion graphic production companies. The graphic and media design minor requires 18 credits of coursework. The historic preservation minor prepares students to pursue careers in a variety of organizations that manage the built environment, such as in architectural firms, city planning offices, economic development agencies, historic parks, and construction companies. The historic preservation minor requires 18 credits of coursework.<\/p>\n This minor prepares students to pursue careers as illustrators with skills in graphic design, drawing, painting, and printmaking. The illustration minor requires 18 credits of coursework. This minor prepares students to pursue careers with interior design businesses, corporate facilities, and government agencies. The interior design minor requires 18 credits of coursework.<\/p>\n This minor is for students interested in a broad range of skills in studio art, including ceramics, drawing, design, painting, and print making. The studio art minor requires 15 credits of coursework. This minor prepares students to enter careers that required a knowledge of UX\/UI design principles as well as core IT skills. Students will learn how to develop effective user experiences and appealing branded intuitive user interface designs for mobile and web applications. The UX\/UI web design minor requires 18 credits of coursework.
