Degree is Right for You<\/h2>\n<p>The Health Sciences (B.S.)\u00a0 degree program, housed in the School of Health Sciences and grounded in the university&#8217;s Liberal Arts Core, provides students resources for developing professional skills in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>exercise testing<\/li>\n<li>physical activity leadership<\/li>\n<li>health and fitness assessment<\/li>\n<li>exercise programming<\/li>\n<li>wellness coaching<\/li>\n<li>public health.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Graduates are prepared for positions in community health and athletic clubs and corporate fitness and wellness program in the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>beginning administrative<\/li>\n<li>supervision<\/li>\n<li>leadership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program also prepares graduates for undertaking graduate study in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>health education<\/li>\n<li>exercise science<\/li>\n<li>occupational therapy<\/li>\n<li>athletic training<\/li>\n<li>chiropractic medicine<\/li>\n<li>physical therapy<\/li>\n<li>public health<\/li>\n<li>Qualified students may apply for an accelerated (5 year) <a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/academics\/college-of-health-and-education\/school-of-health-sciences\/undergraduate-programs\/health-sciences\/combined-b-s-to-m-s-in-health-education-and-prom\/\">B.S. to M.S. program in Public Health Education and Promotion<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Students will choose from four\u00a0emphasis areas in the Health Sciences major:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a and Conditioning<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>CERTIFICATION PREPARATION<\/h2>\n<h4>Upon completion of the program, students will be qualified to sit for the following certifications:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Exercise Physiologist or Personal Trainer certifications by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acsm.org\/\">American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nchec.org\/\">National Commission for Health Education Credentialing<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>STUDENT OUTCOMES<\/h2>\n<p>Upon successful completion of the Health Sciences program, students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>demonstrate the knowledge required to function as competent entry-level professionals in the health\/fitness industry;<\/li>\n<li>demonstrate competence in using equipment, industry tools\/inventories, and\/or other practical &#8220;hands-on&#8221; applications typically used in health and wellness settings and\/or clinical settings;<\/li>\n<li>demonstrate the ability to effectively educate and\/or counsel individuals regarding behavior modification for the promotion of health and wellness;<\/li>\n<li>apply ethical standards to the conduct of health and wellness programs; and<\/li>\n<li>evaluate
