{"id":33144,"date":"2024-09-18T16:49:25","date_gmt":"2024-09-18T20:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/academics\/?page_id=33144"},"modified":"2024-09-20T11:06:39","modified_gmt":"2024-09-20T15:06:39","slug":"on-campus-employment","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/academics\/center-global-engagement\/international-student-services\/current-students\/employment\/on-campus-employment\/","title":{"rendered":"On-Campus Employment"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Approval Required<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>F-1<\/strong> students are eligible for On-Campus employment, including those in their first semester at Marymount. <strong>F-1<\/strong> students do not need to seek special permission to work on campus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>J-1 <\/strong>students or scholars must obtain special permission to work On-Campus <em>before<\/em> starting any On-Campus employment.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What is On-Campus Employment?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There are <em>two types of employment<\/em> that count as &#8220;On-Campus&#8221; employment:<\/p>\n<p><strong>On the school premises<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work that takes place at Marymount University. The position may be working in a Marymount academic or professional support office, library, dining hall, tutoring center, etc. Also, the position could be working for an on-campus commercial business, like the campus bookstore, as long as the work <em>directly provides services for students<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Employment located on-campus that does <em>not<\/em> directly involve services to students (such as construction work) does <em>not<\/em> qualify as on-campus employment. Examples of work that is <em>not<\/em> considered On-Campus includes Starbucks and MedStar Urgent Care at the Ballston Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Educationally affiliated, off-campus location<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work for an employer that is contractually affiliated with Marymount is considered On-Campus employment even if the work site is not physically located on the campus (such as a research lab affiliated with Marymount). Please check with an ISSS advisor <em>before<\/em> working in such a position.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Apply for an On-Campus Job<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Students apply for On-Campus Employment through\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.wd5.myworkdayjobs.com\/en-US\/student_careers\/jobs\">Workday<\/a>. Helpful information can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/faculty-and-staff\/human-resource-services\/jobs-on-campus\/for-students\/\">Marymount&#8217;s Jobs On Campus Student Employee Hub<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Work Hours<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>F-1 students are eligible to work On-Campus <em>up to<\/em> 20 hours per week while school is in session.<\/p>\n<p>When school is not in session (such as during winter and summer school breaks), students may work more than 20 hours per week <em>if<\/em> they are registered for the next required semester.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Social Security Number<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Once a student has an offer of employment for an On-Campus job, they will need to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/academics\/center-global-engagement\/international-student-services\/current-students\/employment\/social-security-number\/\">apply for a Social Security Number (SSN)<\/a> from the U.S. Social Security Administration. To help facilitate obtaining a social security number, <a href=\"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/academics\/center-global-engagement\/international-student-services\/current-students\/employment\/social-security-number\/\">students request a letter from ISSS<\/a> that the student may show at their social security office appointment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 8pt\">09\/20\/2024<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Approval Required F-1 students are eligible for On-Campus employment, including those in their first semester at Marymount.
