{"id":32448,"date":"2024-08-05T14:09:02","date_gmt":"2024-08-05T18:09:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/academics\/?page_id=32448"},"modified":"2024-10-21T13:23:40","modified_gmt":"2024-10-21T17:23:40","slug":"transfer-out","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/marymount.edu\/academics\/center-global-engagement\/international-student-services\/current-students\/transfer-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Transfer Out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"standard-button\" href=\"#eli\">Eligibility<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a class=\"standard-button\" href=\"#tranout\">SEVIS Transfer Out<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 <a class=\"standard-button\" href=\"#acadsep\">University Separation<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An F-1 or SEVIS Transfer means that you entered the U.S. on one school\u2019s I-20 and you are changing to an I-20 to be issued by another U.S. school. Marymount University is required to inform U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) of all F-1 \/ SEVIS record transfers from Marymount to another U.S. school.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"eli\">Eligibility<\/h3>\n<p><strong>To be eligible to transfer your I-20 to another U.S. school:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You must currently be maintaining your F-1 status<\/li>\n<li>If you already graduated and you are not on OPT, then you must still be within your 60-day grace period<\/li>\n<li>You must provide proof of admission to your new school<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Students must start their new program at their new school at the next available session, which must begin within 5 months of whichever is earlier:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transfer SEVIS Release Date<\/li>\n<li>Current program completion date in your SEVIS record \/ I-20<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Students who are on post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) must resume classes within 5 months of whichever is earlier:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Transfer SEVIS Release Date<\/li>\n<li>Authorized OPT End Date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note for students on OPT who plan to transfer out prior to their OPT end date:<\/strong> the last day that your OPT authorization may end is the day prior to your Transfer SEVIS Release Date. You may not continue to work on OPT on or after the date of your SEVIS Release. Please plan accordingly.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"tranout\">Request SEVIS Transfer Out<\/h3>\n<p>Before starting the process, you are encouraged to reach out to your new international student office to request their Transfer-In deadline and Transfer-In Form, if they have one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When you are ready to request to SEVIS Transfer Out of Marymount University, please complete these steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to your ISSS portal and proceed to Tab 4<\/li>\n<li>Click the Transfer Out request icon (circle with arrow)<\/li>\n<li>Complete the online form, including provide information about your new school and select the date that you would like your SEVIS record to be electronically transferred from Marymount to your new U.S. school<\/li>\n<li>Read all the information within the online form<\/li>\n<li>Upload a copy of your admission letter from you new U.S. school<\/li>\n<li>Fill in the date that you will start at your new U.S. school<\/li>\n<li>Upload the Transfer-In Form required by your new school for ISSS to complete, if required by your new school<\/li>\n<li>Click Submit<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Please allow up to 10 business days for ISSS to review and process your request. We will contact you through your Marymount student email account if we have questions, need more information, or when your request has been processed. If you submitted a Transfer-In Form for your new school, the completed form will be available in the Documents section of your ISSS portal, when ready.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The SEVIS Release Date is the date that your new U.S. school will electronically receive your SEVIS record. Please note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On and after your SEVIS Release Date, Marymount will not have access to your SEVIS record.<\/li>\n<li>If you want to change your SEVIS Release Date, email your request to ISSS as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee that we will be able to change your SEVIS Release Date in time. We strongly advise that you select your SEVIS Release Date carefully before submitting your online request.<\/li>\n<li>You should expect your new I-20 from your new U.S. school on or after your SEVIS Release Date. After your SEVIS Release Date, contact your new school if you have questions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"acadsep\">University Separation<\/h3>\n<p>The steps described above are related to transferring out your SEVIS record only.
